VihtaVuori powder is set to arrive this week and will soon make its way to our dealer network the week following.
Once again, we ask you to consider purchasing our Tigershark Bullets along with the powder as a bundled package. We understand that this package deal might not align with everyone's preferences but we currently hold a significant inventory of bullets in stock, with more on the way. To sustain our business, it's crucial that we clear stock. Like any business, our goal is to ensure long term sustainability by turning a profit, covering various costs such as wages, insurance, compliance expenditures, and other essential expenses that come with running a small business. Additionally, the upfront costs of purchasing commercial quantities of powder and bullets, coupled with the substantial expenses of importing, make this a financially demanding and challenging process.
We sincerely wish that the importation process weren't as burdensome and expensive and we remain hopeful that ADI or Nioa, or others, will soon re-enter the market.
It's important to note that the expenses associated with this upcoming shipment are higher than our previous consignment, resulting in a higher retail price this time around.
We are pleased to announce our partnered dealers with confirmed orders are as follows:
The Outpost - Rockhampton
Halls Firearms - Townsville
The QStore - Brisbane
Mackay Shooters Supply
New South Wales (NSW):
Safari Firearms Sydney

Action Paintball - Vineyard
OZ Gun Mart - Strathfield South
Pakenham Firearms - Melbourne
Lorco Firearms - Glenburn
South Australia (SA):

Additional dealers will be announced as their orders are confirmed. Furthermore, a limited quantity of powder will be available for purchase directly from us by our loyal customers (for pickup in Brisbane). However, due to ongoing commitments such as ShotShow and other engagements, sales and collection may be delayed until early February. Please stay tuned for updates on this.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Handling the import and distribution of Explosives (Smokeless Powder) is a difficult and complex task that demands careful attention and is very time consuming. It is an complex journey filled with unexpected hurdles that constantly reshape our path. These challenges range from the need to secure permits for overflying southern India, to the necessity of repackaging consignments to comply with stringent Australian regulations. The paperwork involved has proven to be exceptionally complex, contributing to unforeseen delays.
However, despite these obstacles, I am pleased to let you know that we remain on schedule to receive the Vihtavuori powder by the end of this month, provided that no further unforeseen delays occur. In the face of stringent Australian road transport regulations our commitment to getting powder out to as many people as possible remains, and we are actively working to ensure that interstate/intrastate dealer orders are packaged and dispatched during the first week of October.

Please Note dealers have limited quantities and varieties available.
Also, you may be asked to purchase Tigershark bullets alongside the powder as a package. We understand that this arrangement may not suit everyone, but it plays a vital role in supporting our mission to and sustain our core business. By selling more bullets alongside the powder, allows us the means to import additional powder.

For those interested in purchasing powder from our Brisbane location, please note that we will also have limited quantities and varieties available. Further details on how to make purchases will be provided at a later date. Additionally, for those considering a road trip to collect your order, please be aware that regulations in NSW stipulate a maximum limit of 12 kilograms of powder in private vehicles.
It is essential to recognize that quantities of certain popular pistol powders are extremely limited, and dealers may carry some varieties while not offering others.
In other news, we anticipate the arrival of another couple of tons of Vihtavuori pistol and rifle powder before Christmas. Additionally, we have 1,000 kilograms of Lovex DO32 in Europe that we are trying to arrange approval for.
Lastly, I would like to emphasize that this venture is not only complex but also financially demanding, requiring significant upfront investments running into hundreds of thousands of dollars to secure these products.
We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this challenging process.
Thank you for supporting Tigershark, and we will keep you updated as developments unfold.

In addition to the Lovex, the Vihtavuori shipment is ready to be loaded onto a ship and is expected to arrive in Brisbane on September 16th (although we acknowledge that there might be a slight adjustment to this date). This means that we're on track to start distributing Vihtavuori powder around the last week of September. At that time we will also have our initial stock of Mark7 Apex presses, auto-drives and accessories as well as a restock of the very popular GPS Range Backpacks.
Interstate shipping is still a challenge but we do expect to be able to ship powder to a select group of interstate dealers. However, please understand that due to the unique nature of the product, it is challenging for us to accommodate small individual dealer orders. To best serve you, we will be appointing a limited number of dealers in key locations, including Sydney/Newcastle, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. In Queensland, shipping is a little easier and we are able to work with a larger network of dealers. As we've done in the past with our Lovex shipment, we will also offer a package deal that includes Tigershark bullets along with the powder. We understand that this might raise questions for some, and we apologize to those who find this arrangement less than ideal.
A small portion of the powder will also be available directly from us. However, at this time, we're not able to accept pre-orders. Once we have confirmation of shipping, we will advise details on how to order.
For a detailed overview of the Vihtavuori powders that we're importing, please refer to our website. Please understand we are trying to ensure a fair and efficient process for all and consequently the limited quantities in all the variants will mean dealers will only have a few of the variations available.
While we've provided indicative pricing on the website, please bear in mind that unexpected post-import costs could potentially lead to slight price adjustments. Dealers will also incur freight and other costs that are not factored in to these prices.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we continue work to bring you these powders. Further updates will follow as we inch closer to the distribution phase. Stay tuned for more info.
]]>Through various sources we have secured a quantity of Vihtavuori powder consisting of pistol powder (3N37, 3N38, N310, N320, N330, N340, N350) and some of their faster rifle powders (N110, N120, N130, N133, N135). See more detail on our website
We also have another shipment of Lovex DO32 and DO36 ready to ship via air-cargo. As this shipment will enter Australia via Sydney we have been required to obtain a NSW license to Import (on top of our existing QLD one). As soon as it is granted we will have it here quick smart - the bureaucracy is killing me!
ETA for the Vihtavuori is early September and will be available through select dealers. Further information on how to purchase will follow.

On my recent visit to the USA, I picked up the larger (Tall) version and this bag is THE bag for the range. It has a massive amount of room and comes with 4 matching pistol cases
Anyway, I have been so impressed with these backpacks we have now taken on the Australian Distributorship of GPS products.
Our initial stock will be limited to a combination of 5 different varieties of the GPS Backpacks and we intend to flesh out the offering as we go.
Stock arriving at the end of April. The range will include the following:
Tactical Range Backpack (Tall) Black and Tan
Tactical Range Backpack Black and Gray
Executive Backpack Black
Pistolero Backpack Black
Handgunner Backpack Black
Anyway, don’t take my word for how good they are check out this review https://taskandpurpose.com/gear/gps-tactical-range-backpack-review/
]]>This week we will be in touch with dealers who will help us distribute to customers in other regions or states. If you have pre-ordered and requested collection at a dealer in Queensland please expect contact from the dealer to arrange the purchase. We are also in the process of finalising a shipment to a Sydney dealer. The price for projectiles and propellant will be up to the dealer who will likely need to add the cost of freight.
To those that have selected to collect from Tigershark in Brisbane I will advise how this will be handled shortly.
Each state (other than QLD) requires authorisation of propellant before it can be sold or used. Authorisation has been granted in NSW and WA, we are still waiting on authorisation in SA, NT and VIC. We hope that won't be too long. It has proven to be impossible to find a freight provider to ship propellant to TAS so we have not requested authorisation there. We are looking in to the requirements for the ACT.
]]>WAPOL have advised that projectiles are considered ammunition and are regulated under legislation
In the WA Firearms Act 1973 sec.4 (Terms used)
"ammunition includes anything manufactured specifically as a
component of ammunition designed for discharge from a
firearm and also includes any primer or propellant manufactured
specifically for use in making ammunition designed for
discharge from a firearm"
Sending firearms and ammunition to WA requires the use of "Commercial Carriers" who have an "commercial carriers exemption" and must be sent to a holder of a Dealer, Repairer or Manufacturer Firearms Licence. and not a private address.
What this means is that we are unable to send projectiles to private addresses in WA and are working with local dealers to ensure your continued access to Tigershark bullets. Hollier Gunsmithing is currently holding stock in Perth. Contact Robert on 0427 199 695
]]>We have received our first production shipment of the new Smart Timers from Shooters Global. Shooters Global is a Ukrainian company who, for obvious reasons, have moved their production and sales office to Poland. This timer brings new features and benefits to your live fire and dry practice. It's like going from an old Nokia "brick" to an iPhone! This is by far the best timer for dry fire where multiple strings can be run without the need to press start teach time. What's more, most settings are adjustable and firmware updates can be done wirelessly. The timer is Bluetooth linked to your phone (Android and IOS) and with additional features that are unlocked via a small subscription (one month included free) you can capture video of your run that includes your times.
The timer comes with a belt clip, charging cable and lanyard.
PractiScore integration is in the final stages of development too and will available shortly via the firmware update.
]]>The testing starts with weighing and measuring the projectiles and then delves into detailed testing for suitability and accuracy. Load data is included for 9MM, 357 Mag and 44Mag.
]]>Note that there is some very slight changes to our classic design with a little bit of colour added.
Orders must be in by April 30 - More details or to order yours click here

Ballistics is a Black Art, well not really but it sometimes seems to be with so many variables involved that subtle changes to bullet weight, powder, primer, OAL, etc, etc can have dramatic results
Usually, with 9MM at minor power factor we find that great accuracy can be obtained with all weights and shapes from 115RN to 145RN/HP and, most competition shooters will have a preference for light, medium or heavy bullets that give a perceived difference in recoil – either slower/softer (heavier bullets) or snappy/quick (lighter bullets) for faster slide movement and perceived quicker follow-up shots). Now, how can you have the same perception (at identical power factor) you ask? - see what I mean about ballistics being a black art when we start talking about perceived differences). The difference really comes down to the preference of the shooter and sometimes their level of skill. Slower, heavier bullets will allow the shooter to more easily see the full recoil arc and therefore enable to “call the shot”. Lighter bullets tend to move the slide faster and can allow for a quicker follow up shot. However, if we get too caught up in the “feel” we are relegating accuracy to a secondary consideration. Without going in to how powder or other variables can affect accuracy, some individual pistols will be inherently more accurate with certain weights or shapes and this I believe is as important or an even more important factor in selecting the perfect load for your competition ammo. There’s more on the choosing heavy or light bullets at https://tigersharkballistics.com.au/pages/recoil-heavy-or-light-bullets
When we start getting into Major Power Factor for Open division pistols other things come in to play such as requiring loads that produce enough gas to work the compensator/popple holes to minimise muzzle movement in recoil. In Major PF barrel twist rate and its relation to bullet shape can become more of a factor affecting accuracy. Generally speaking, heavier (longer for calibre) bullets require a higher twist rate to optimise stability with pistol barrels being produced anywhere from a relatively slow 1:32 to a fast 1:10. Barstow Barrels are 1:16 with Schuemann offering 1:16 to 1:32. Some bullet shapes are inherently more stable and at Major PF velocities the difference in stability can be more noticeable and is evidenced in better accuracy. Tigershark “Hollow Points” are markedly different in shape to the equivalent weight round nose projectile with much more of a truncated cone shape compared to the tapering ogive of a round nose. It is thought that this shape is more inclined to stay on axis to target particularly at high velocity and may explain why many Open division pistols shoot very accurately with HP's.
Yes, it's a black art but once you find a load combination that works for you, stick with it.
Accuracy testing in 38 Super using cast lead,
Tigershark 123 RN & HP's
Note that Tigershark bullets are factory rated to 1500FPS velocities higher than that can have a detrimental effect on accuracy as the bullet can become distorted and unstable. The minimum velocity in Open division for a 123GN bullet is just over 1300FPS so usually, this is not a problem.
Testing credit to T Mason.

Thanks for sharing the image Phil.
]]>I then proceeded to rinse and ran it through a wash cycle again this time I threw in some car wash (it was at hand) and ran it through again. The water was now looking much clearer and with a final good rinse, I ran 4KG of dirty cases through using MP103 burnishing compound. I set the tumbler for my usual 90 minutes. 10 minutes later I checked on progress and to my surprise, the cases looked clean already. Grabbing one out of the soupy mix (using a spoon) its appearance was stunning! I can't believe the difference.
A good rinse and separation of media and you can see how they turned out - pretty well like new.

AP70N has long been my favourite for reloading 9MM, it has always performed well for me while others insist AP50 is better and some even preferring AP100.
With the demise of AP70 the good news is that ADI has released the alternative to AP50 called APS450 and I thought it worthwhile to test it against 70 to see if it could bridge the gap till APS650 becomes available. Other powders were tested as part of the process as well. For the full report click here
]]>The NSW IPSC Handgun Championships was held in Albury at the Hume Pistol Club on April 5 -7 this year.
The match was an IPSC International sanctioned Level 3 match consisting of 12 stages over 2 days. Hume Pistol club always puts on a good challenging match as this year lived up to past State Titles.
Brodie was successful in securing Open Overall Champion, Gold Medal Grand Master, and Presidents Medal. Brodie now has a short break before he then starts preparations for the 2019 Australasians in The Philippines later this year.

You just can't get better than 123 Gn.HP's (9MM/38 Super) in an Open gun (major PF). Here are 2 groups of 5 shots at around 18 meters from a rest. Thanks, Tristan M. for sharing.
]]>Our next shipment arriving next week will be packed in our new boxes. These boxes will present better in retail shops and will start shipping next week. The first stock in this packaging will be 123HP's and over time we will gradually change over from the original plastic bags.
]]>Of all the thousands of products at the recent SHOT Show one product really impressed me. Something that might help to understand what happens during and after trigger press and something that would likely sharpen skills or diagnose problems. And as Rod Leatham says "Aiming is meaningless" (if you move the gun during the shot). Called MANTISX it's a laser training aid that records your aim, trigger press, shot break and displays the movement during each 3. Additionally it shows you (on the free App connected by Bluetooth) where the shot hit and and gives you a score out of 100 for each shot in a string. It also provides suggestions to improve your score.
MANTISX can be used in live fire and dry fire with the tiny unit mounted on your pistol's integrated rail, or mounted on your magazine base with an adapter.
MantisX will be available form our website soon at $295. Magazine adapters $15
